Coffee Giant Must Rehire Fired Baristas and Rescind National Anti-Union Policies

New York, NY- The IWW Starbucks Workers Union won a watershed victory yesterday in the first National Labor Relations Board conflict over unfair labor practices between the world's largest coffee chain and the baristas who work there. Faced with the prospect of having its widespread union-busting campaign exposed in a public hearing, Starbucks agreed to remedy all of the myriad violations committed against workers who have organized a union.

Syndicalists urge class struggle after boss sent people to attack striker

On 23 Febuary, members of the Syndicalist Youth Federation (SUF) participated in the blockade against Café Lundagård. The reason was that the boss have threatend, Liv Marend, an active unionist to life. More than 150 people attended.

Iran: Release jailed strikers now!

Beginning on Friday, 27 January, security forces in Iran began arresting hundreds of striking bus workers in Teheran, including the leadership of the union. Workers are also being intimidated into signing pledges to give up strike and protest actions or risk being fired. The management of the company and the company's Islamic Council worked hand in hand with the security forces to help identify the workers and assist in the arrests.

New York's foodstuff workers organize

The Industrial Workers of the World chalked up another victory in an NLRB election in February, at E-Z Supply Corp. This is the second shop in New York's foodstuffs industry to line up with the IWW, and there are many more to come.

Report on S.O.S. and it’s January 8th Rally at International Auto Show,

This was the first big public protest organized by Soldiers Of Solidarity,
the independent faction comprised of United Auto Workers (UAW) rank and filers.

SOS formed at a Dec. 4th Bay City, Michigan meeting organized by and for
UAW rank and filers. The Bay City meeting was one of the early meetings
organized to engage the UAW membership employed by Delphi and GM. The
purpose of the meetings are to raise consciousness, solidify a base, and
promote the idea of resistance to a) specifically, Delphi’s restructuring
bankruptcy that entails plant closures, pension cuts, immediate wage
lowering, and rolls over current labor contracts, and b) generally, the
broader restructuring that the US auto industry is hoping to initiate, the
results of which are similar to what is on Delphi’s agenda.

Response to Hysterical Right Wing Blogger Thomas Brewton

Recently, Thomas Brewton, an ultra rightist blogger for the reactionary americandaily.com, published a hysterical screed accusing the IWW (and most American business unions for that matter) of the usual bogeymen that hysterical right wingers find under every bed (i.e. "Communism", "Bolshevism", "Terrorism", "Anti-Americanism", etc).

Lumped in with these usual over the top nonsensical fantasies were blatantly false accusations of "organized crime" by the IWW. These accusations are completely groundless. Here is the IWW's response to these misconceptions and lies

Rock for Hotel Bauen and Zanon Workers

December 26, 2005 - Workers from the BAUEN hotel and hundreds of supporters marched on December 15 to the city legislature to demand that Buenos Aires mayor annul a law to return the hotel to the former management. Meanwhile, rock groups are performing a series of mega-concert in defense of the BAUEN cooperative and other recuperated factories in Argentina tonight.
